LDA.iMdA architetti was founded in 2003. They won contests and awards such as the Project for a school in Rosignano Marittimo, #scuoleinnovative in Aviano area, Project for suburban areas in Prato, Project for a bathing lake in Sasso Pisano, a project for a bridge over the Arno River, another for a school complex in Caraglio, the Pisa 2007 Client Award, the BIGSEE Interior Design Award 2018 and the BIGSEE Architecture Award 2019 granted by Zavod Big (South-East Europe). LDA.iMdA also received an honorable mention at The Plan Award 2017 with Casa Verde Project, two mentions at Premio Architettura Toscana 2017 and the “Design for All” award at Dedalo Minosse International Prize 2017.
LDA.iMdA have been invited to exhibit their works in various universities and published in books and magazines, among which: “Paysage”, “Dezeen”, “Archdaily”, “Domus”, “Interni”, “l’ARCA International”, “Area”, “Platform”, “Mark Magazine”, an almanac of young Italian architects by “Casabella”, the exhibition catalogue of Dedalo Minosse International Prize 2014, 2017, 2019 edition and “Le sfide dell’Architettura” published by Italian newspaper “Corriere della Sera”. Casa Verde project is part of the italian pavilion at the Venice Biennale of Architecture 2021.
The process entails identifying four levels of observation for simplification and subsequent investigation of their consequences:
1- Matter in its entirety with geometric perception
The perception of matter and geometry identify the initial visual analysis of urban elements such as squares, walls, and streets lined with trees, along with their volumetric relationships. Material and chromatic perceptions define the urban landscape we encounter daily, often evolving at a slower pace than other aspects of the city.
The quality of urban space significantly impacts the daily well-being of individuals, irrespective of their gender or social class
2- Rights in their collective, permeable dimension
The city is the birthplace of democracy, conceived to enhance human life. Democracy, as an organizational system, delegates power to city inhabitants to address their needs. Law, health, and education are fundamental elements of individual and communal well-being.
3- Strangeness and proximity in awareness of the other
Strangeness and proximity contribute to defining community dynamics. As communities achieve moderate cohesion, they engage with the world, acknowledging differences and gaining enrichment from diversity, akin to nature. Historically, cities served as hubs of exchange. Man's fulfillment lies within this intricate web of relationships.
4- Natural environment and artifice in their enduring significance
Nature encompasses the natural context, including climate, environment, landscape, and territory, while artifice refers to anthropogenic elements, such as built structures and technology.
This inquiry delves into the contemporary architectural landscape as a product and synthesis of cultural processes aimed at addressing human existence. It explores the need for appropriate responses to the theme of new well-being. Such research may manifest through diverse mediums, such as performances, videos, exhibitions, conferences, and publications.
