Tirana Architecture Triennale: Virtually Present, Physically Invisible Vol I.
The participation of three LINA Fellows during Tirana Architecture Triennale Vol.1 is composed as a trilogy within a trilogy exploring the topic “Virtually Present, Physically Invisible”. As the three fellows explore topics linked with art-science, religion-faith and living-sense of neighbouring, within the frame of another trio of actors, academia, professionals and community.
Space Saloon will develop a workshop in collaboration with students and professors of BARLETI University and other Schools of Architecture in Albania, architects from the Association of Albanian Architects, Destil Creative Hub and the Municipality of Tirana experts. The aim will be to pro(vo)actively reflect on the rapid urban transformation of Albania during the last three decades of “shock” therapy. A massive action of migration from rural areas into the major urban centers developing new architecture for housing. Such action transforming Albanian cities into new realities, can be reflected into an Albanian physical and virtual public installation variant of Laugier’s “the primitive hut idea”.
The unique phenomenon of religious coexistence in Albania is globally renowned, reflected in the dynamic community of Albanians. Yet, New South Collective will develop a workshop in collaboration with Harabel Contemporary Art Platform, the religious community in Albania, the Ministry of Culture in Albania and students and professors of BARLETI University will aim to articulate this relationship into a spatial experience and public installation.
The vibrant character of the city of Tirana lies not only in its popular center, but is created in the discrete neighborhoods and intimate relationships that are formed there. We invite Filter Café Filtré - Atelier to explore that relationship and celebrate it with a design workshop and open performance in the neighborhoods of the city. A collaboration with the local community organization “Qendra Marrëdhënie - Relationship Center”, students and professors of BARLETI University and other Schools of Architecture in Albania, the Municipality of Tirana, experts.
LINA fellows collaboration
As all fellows have experimented with their philosophy of work the above initiatives, our aim will be to augment their methodology of work while creating new variants for interaction in a new virtual and/ or physical verse.
BARLETI University and the TIRANA ARCHITECTURE TRIENNALE for all three interventions will bridge different mediums, communities, experts and tools to actively embody all actions from LINA Fellows into the Albanian Universe of actions. Its expertise in community participation processes, in an academic and professional level will provide an added value on this endeavour.
