Opening of Liisa Ryynänen's installation "Sail_Away_It's_Time_To_Leave"

As the outcome of the collaboration, LINA fellow Liisa Ryynänen (FI) as created an outdoor site-specific installation titled “Sail_Away_It’s_Time_To_Leave” in front of the Estonian Museum of Architecture. The installation meditates on the tensions between monumentality and ruination, construction and dismantling, remembering and the desire to forget.
The fragmented architectural structure that has emerged in front of the museum may evoke associations with architectural form such as a staircase, a bridge, or a grandstand, but also simply alludes to dreaming.
The installation is made of scaffolding, aluminium pennants and original granite stepping stones sourced from the Pirita Olympic Yachting Centre, completed in 1980.
The piece has been commissioned as part of the Estonian Museum of Architecture's exhibition “Sailing Forward. How the 1980 Olympic Regatta Shaped Tallinn”, which is open until September 28, 2025.
